Events: 2006 San Francisco's Open Studio's a success

10/17/2006
First I'd like to thank my sweetheart Julie Talcott-Fuller for her tireless efforts in helping me get ready for the show.

Also, big thanks to my nephew, Drew Wittig, who helped me create the work I displayed at Open Studio's and continue to exhibit at The Artist's Alley (345 Gough Street @ Hayes).

Thanks to everyone who came by to see my artwork and to visit with me. I met some very interesting people and was honored to be commissioned to do a variety of pieces from a 3 foot by 3 foot El Santo wall piece for a tattoo studio on Haight Street, to a 16"x20" serving tray that converts into a table.

There was a lot of interest over the "Dancing with Joy" table that lights up. I got a great suggestion to fabricate the top entirely out of clear acrylic so that the entire surface will glow from the internal light as oppossed to just the top surface as it is currently designed. I plan on giving that a try with my new Midnight Moon design.

The Santa Cruz panorama at 40"x16" also stimulated a lot of interest as did the Siberian tiger cub swimming under water chomping on steak treats.

I was told by several Buddhists that the air bubbles in the Yin-Yang tables are not mistakes to be sanded-out and re-poured, but are perfect imperfections that are part of the accidents of life. Food for thought, but somehow I suspect my perfectionist nature will have me in the resin room making them perfectly smooth.

I'm in New Canaan CT this week visiting with my daughter. Its cold and raining here, but that is to be expected this time of year. Looking forward to returning to San Francisco and getting to work on those commissions. I’ll see you all next weekend at the Artist’s Alley Open Studio’s. Be sure to drop by and say hi.
